Some Milestones in Space by INDIA

1962 :- Department of Atomic Energy forms the Indian National Committe for Space Research. Work on establishing Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) starts.1965 :- Space Science and Technology Centere established in Thumba.
1967 :- Satellite Telecommunication Earth Station set up at Ahmedabad.
15th August 1969 :- Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) formed under Department of Atomic Energy.
1st June 1972 :- Space Commission and Department of Space (DOS) set up. ISRO brought under DOS.
19th April 1975 :- ISRO launches first Indian Satellite Aryabhata.
10th August 1979 :- First experimental launch of SLV-3 with Rohini Technology Payload on board. Satellite can't be placed in orbit.
7th June 1979 :- An experimental satellite for earth observations, Bhaskara-1 launched.
18th July 1980 :- Second experimental launch of SLV-3. Rohini satellite successfully placed in orbit.
1981 :- First developmental launch of SLV-3, Bhaskara-2 launched, Apple and experimental geo-stationary communication satellite launched.
1982 :- INSAT-1A launched on April 10, deactivated on September6.
1983 :- INSAT-1B launched.
1988 :- Launch of first operational Indian Remote Sensing Satellite, IRS-1A.
1992 :- First satellite of the indigenously build second generation INSAT series, INSAT-2A launched.
1993 :- First development launch of PSLV, satellite coudn't placed in orbit.
1994 :- Second developmental launch of PSLV. Satellite successfully placed in orbit.
1999 :- India launches 2 foregin satellite, one from Germany and one from Korea, for first time as co-passenger atellite.
2001 :- First developmental launch of GSLV-D1.
2003 :- Second developmental launch of GSLV-D2.
2008 :- PSLV-C11 successfully launches CHANDRAYAAN 1.
2013 :- PSLV-C25 successfully launches Mars Orbit Mission spacecraft. --------------------------------
