Cyber Crime Note

Cyber Crime is a common usage for electronic offences, e-crimes, white collar crimes etc..It is a criminal activity using a computer or such a electronic device. Cyber crime is not defined in any of the existing laws in our country. In simple terms, Cyber Crime is a crime in which a computer device is the tool or target in the crime.

Virus, Malware, Adware, Spam, DoS, DDoS, IP spoofing, E-mail spoofing, Scavenging, Card cloning, post sniffers, data digging, sholder surfing, social engineering etc are all examples of Cyber Crime threats.

Malware (Malicious Software) is any software used to disrupt computer operations, gather sensitive information or gain access to private computer systems. It may be stealthy, intended to steal information or spy on computer users for an extended period without their knowledge. Malware is an umbrella term used to refer to a varienty of forms of intrusive software's like Virus, Worms, Trojan horse, Spyware, data files etc..

Virus (Vital Information Resource Under Siege) is a kind of computer program that when executed replicate by inserting copies of itself into other computer programs, data files etc.. It is a piece of software code or program which corrupts the information, data or other resources and makes to function it in a manner other than intended by the owner of resources. I Love You, Blaster, Prety Park, Chernobyl, Storm Worm, Annakurnikova etc... are excamples for computer virus.
