Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana is an integrated poverty alleviation programme, Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana is a combination of erstwhile programmes namely Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP),Training of Rural Youth for Self-Employment (TRYSEM),Million Wells Scheme (MWS) ,Ganga Kalyan Yojana (GKY), Development Of Women And Children In Rural Areas (SWCRA),Supply of Improved Toolkits to Rural Artisans (SITRA)
The funding of this programme is the ratio of 75:25 between the central and the state.
The objective of the Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana is to bring the assisted poor families (Swarozgaries) above the Poverty Line by ensuring appreciable sustained level of income over a period of time.
The objective is to be achieved by inter alia organising the rural poor into Self Help Groups (SHGs) through the process of social mobiolization, their training and capability building and provision of income generating assets.
Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana lays stress on the cluster approach. What this means is that insted of funding diverse activities, each block should concentrate on a few select activities (key activities) and attend to all aspects of these activities, so that the Swarozgaris can draw sustainable incomes from their investments.
Up to 10% of Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana funds will be set aside as training funds and will; be utilized to provide both orientation and training programmes to the Swarozgaris.
Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana is implemented by District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs) through the Panchayathi Samithis and with the active involvement of other Panchayathi Raj Institutions, the banks, the line department and the NGOs.
