1.  LIVESTOCK
The  cell  and  its  functions —  structure  of  cell  —  cell  division  —  functional
organizations  of animal  body  —  regulation  of body function  —  Animal  blood  —
Functions — transport of gases - nutrient of plant and animal body.
Concept of basic genetic inheritance —  Heredity  --   law of Mendel  —  quantitative
and qualitative traits.
Animal breeding —  cross breeding —  inbreeding -  hybrid vigour —  Progeny testing —
Animal Reproduction — sexual reproduction - male & Female reproductive system
– puberty   oestrous cycle — Artificial insemination.



Phylum Chordata —  Fundamental characters, comparison of chordate with non
chordates  
Major subdivisions of phylum chordata, General character.
Common animal husbandry terms, Dentition and ageing of animals, Transport
of livestock  by rail,  road and on foot, Farm management  practices  including
disinfection,  isolation,  quarantine,  disposal  of  carcass.  Methods  of  drug
administration, selection of site for constructing a farm.

eggs, structure of eggs. Important economic traits of poultry, egg production, eggs
weight, eggs quality, growth, feed consumption and feed efficiency.
Rearing and management  —  Care and management of growing and laying birds  -
working of  hatchery, Handling of eggs prior to and during incubation, candling—
fumigation — sexing —   brooding of chicken
